If you’ve ever made your own jerk seasoning or marinade you know there are lots of ingredients involved. That being said, every once in a while I just have to share a recipe that uses more than the average amount of ingredients because it tastes that good! That’s exactly what happened when I made these Jerk Chicken Skewers with Mango Habanero Sauce. I like to get in and out of the grocery store as fast as possible and get my meals prepared and on the table with as little stress as possible. That’s not to say that the recipe wouldn’t be delicious, it might be the best thing I’ve ever eaten, but I’m sort of lazy about certain things. I know that no one likes to go shopping for 50 ingredients and if I see a recipe is using a slew of them I usually skip over it. If you’ve been following along on the blog for a while, you know that I generally try to share recipes that don’t use tons of ingredients. Serve with black beans and brown rice for a healthy and filling dinner! Add salt and fresh lime juice and stir until well combined.These Jerk Chicken Skewers with Mango Habanero Sauce are truly a flavor explosion for your mouth! Full of Caribbean flavor and just the right amount of heat and sweet. Put all of the ingredients into a large bowl. We highly recommend wearing gloves while removing the seeds! Step 2: Toss together Removing the seeds completely will result in very mild heat. You could also remove only parts of it to reduce the spice level a bit. Remove the seeds for a less spicy sauce or keep them for a hot sauce. Finely mince the onion and pre-washed cilantro. Give the red bell pepper a good wash and cut them into small pieces as well. Start by peeling the mango and cutting it into bite-sized pieces. There's no extra equipment such as a food processor needed and it's ready within minutes! Step 1: Cut veggies To create this salsa you'll only need a knife and a cutting board. Both versions come together in no time and taste delicious in their own way. You could use garlic powder instead.īelow you'll find two versions of this hot sauce: a chunkier salsa and a dipping sauce style salsa. Garlic (Roasted Habanero): Optional but highly recommended to include some roasted garlic.I recommend them over beefsteak tomatoes because they contain less water. Cherry Tomatoes (Roasted Habanero): For the roasted version you'll need to include additional cherry tomatoes.We used fresh lime juice, not store-bought one. Lime Juice: Is essential for the fresh taste in this delicious salsa.Fresh Cilantro: Using fresh ingredients makes all the difference! I don't recommend using dried cilantro because the flavors won't be the same.Onion: I prefer using red onion but this recipe also works with white onion.Could be replaced with yellow bell peppers. Red Bell Pepper: Adds some additional sweet flavor and texture.I highly recommend wearing gloves when removing the seeds to avoid burning your fingers. You can modify the heat of the pepper by reducing or removing the seeds. Could be replaced with scotch bonnet peppers, jalapeno peppers or serrano chiles. You can usually find them in most bigger grocery stores. ![]()
